Harlan's Grilled Pork Ribs in Orange Sauce
This is a summer favorite in my family. Be sure to make lots, since people eat far more of this than you expect them to. -Harlan
Ingredients:
- baby back pork ribs
- concentrated frozen orange juice
- sugar
Instructions:
- Make sauce by boiling concentrated frozen orange juice with a lot of sugar in it, until the mixture foams (you put in enough sugar that the stuff tastes "sweet").
- Put the ribs on a grill, constantly turning them so they don't burn, basting
them with the orange sauce as they cook.
- When done, they will have a thick crust of slightly burnt orange and sugar. You can tell when they're done by the way the meat starts to separate from the end of the rib bone--it just begins to pull back. It's hard to describe, but once you've done it a couple of times it's easy to see. With thicker ribs, it's best to cut into the meat to be sure it's done.
